The Book that Started my Writing Career
Captain’s Log – Stardate 71673.2
It's been almost two months since the release of Book 10 in the Universe in Flames saga (To End All Wars). I've received multiple emails asking me to continue Chase's story. Rest assured I've started writing the new series already. I'll give you more news about it when the time is right.
But before I can give the sequel series my full attention, there is one thing I have wanted to do for a very long time, but never managed as I was focused on delivering the next Universe in Flames book.
And that is Earth - Last Sanctuary. The book that started it all, that put me on the map, and that jump-started my writing career. There have been things in the book I haven't liked. My English for one (for those who don't know, it's not my first language) was limited, and while my first editor did a decent job on helping me, I always felt that my voice had been altered too much as a result. I didn't know any better back then, so I didn't worry about it. Now ten books later (not counting novellas & short stories), it's something I feel I need to address before moving full steam ahead into the next series.
So, after nearly three years since its release, I tackled the difficult project of rewriting Earth - Last Sanctuary. It's not a full rewrite, but it certainly feels like one since it was such an extensive edit on my part and changing some parts of the story, though most of it is the same, albeit told with my voice. Dialogues were among one of the things that needed the most work, and in that sense, it will feel like a new book somehow, or at the very least, a fresh take on one.
I should be done with the first draft of the rewrite later today, and then the book will go through extensive edit and proofreading phases, like with all my releases. I'm also reworking the cover of the book. Just like with the word content, it will feature a similar image as the original but enhanced with the experience I've gained of having done over 25 covers in the past three years.
I'll tell you more about it when it's time to release (at the moment I'm targeting an early-April launch window). While most of you have already devoured this book (some of you more than once), I hope you'll consider re-reading this definitive edition.
I've also written a Chase-centric, near novella-sized, Universe in Flames story in the past few days, one I'm sure you'll love. I will tell you more about it in the coming weeks as well, as it ties in on another exciting new project I have yet to announce.
Until next time, it is time for me to take my leave. Setting a course for the next adventure and engage!
I wish you all a fantastic weekend.
Cheers,
Christian
