Captain’s Log – Stardate 71158.3
Being a writer has many joys. One of them being that I can pretty much write anywhere. Currently, I am at a local park overlooking a calm and serene lake. I’m enjoying the fresh air, wildlife, and even occasional pesky bee hovering around.
I am hard at work on Book 9, Into the Fire Part I, and I have so many ideas that I can’t seem to type fast enough!
Here is a small excerpt to keep from one of the chapters on what is occurring with Chase and the Fury battle.
“Now, one more thing. I don’t want us to take any unnecessary risks.”
Is that wise? asked Sarah telepathically. We might not have a choice but to go all in.
I agree with Sarah, added Argos.
So do I, echoed Chris.
Chase was surprised Oryn hadn’t added an additional layer of comment as well. But perhaps she didn’t need to; he could see it in her eyes. She would do whatever it took to try and bring Arakan down, whether Chase agreed or not with this course of action.
“For those of us who don’t speak telepathically,” said Daniel, “Mind sharing with the rest of us?”
Chase was surprised at Daniel, but then again his best friend knew him well enough to interpret his facial expressions and demeanor.
“About Arakan…” said Chase tentatively.
“He dies today,” cut in Oryn.
Chase flinched.
“That is not the primary objective of this mission.”
“It is mine,” she spat back.
“Not if you want to even a be part of it! I have no problem leaving you behind on this one if we all don’t agree on one thing right here and right now.”
Her eyes flashed like diamond dust and the temperature in the room suddenly dropped a few degrees.
“And what would that be?” she answered as calmly as she could under the circumstances.
“Nobody takes on Arakan alone. We do this fight as a unit or not at all. I know you all want your pound of flesh, gods know I want to kill him myself as well.”
Oryn nearly jumped back up into a standing position, and she succeeded in getting everyone’s attention.
“Let’s make one thing clear! Arakan is mine! If any of you try to prevent me from killing him, I will kill you.”
